Quick facts:

  • Domaine Finot France is the sister winery to Domaine Finot Virginia. Matthieu Finot makes the wines in Virginia, while his brother Thomas makes the wines in France.
  • Thomas gained experience as a winemaker in a number of different regions before falling in love with Isère and establishing this domaine in 2007. He has since been growing his vineyard holdings bit by bit, often purchasing plots from elderly folks who had small, garden sized parcels growing fruit to sell to the local co-op in Bernin.
  • He is passionate about showcasing rare native grapes like Verdesse, Persan, and l’Etraire de la Ghuy alongside better-known varieties like Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.
  • Thomas had the opportunity to take charge of the family parcel in Crozes-Hermitage in 2014, so Rhône wines are now also part of the line-up.
