Castell d’Age is the vision of three generations of women who have been at the heart of growing grapes and making wine in the Penedès since the middle of the twentieth century. Aurèlia Figueras started the vineyard and breathed life into her family’s land. Anne Marie inspired the creation of the cellars in the 1980’s and pioneered organic and biodynamic farming. Olivia currently carries on the family ethos while incorporating current trends in natural winemaking. With deep subterranean cellars on the outskirts of La Beguda Baixa, Castell d’Age has the unique capabilities to age wines sur lattes for long periods. The resulting Cavas, all of which carry the reserva designation at minimum, are complex, autolytic wines which rival the best traditional method sparkling wines the world over.
