Wallflower Wine Co.

About

Wallflower Riesling is a collaboration between Gernot Kollman of Weingut Immich-Batterieberg in the Mosel and Ben & Tim Jordan of Midland Wine in Virginia. Patt Eagan and Nicolas Mestre felt it was the responsible thing to do to join in and oversee the antics of Gernot and the Jordan brothers because, without adults in the room, who knows what would have happened? This wine is the product of the 2018 vintage, a warmer one in the Mosel, from a vineyard called Briedeler Herzchen, an often overlooked, but very beautiful site of grey to red slate at 30 to 40 degrees of steepness, planted with 40 year old vines. The riesling was fermented with indigenous yeasts in stainless steel with some pre-fermentation skin maceration. It spent twelve months on the lees and finished with 4.3 g/L RS. Delicious now, but will develop well in the bottle over the next 4-7 years. Not as shy as the name suggests and full of trans-Atlantic personality, please enjoy this quirky and delicious bottle of wine with a tasty meal prepared with love and joined by the best of friends. Prost!
